From FutureLab to RealityLab
A FutureLab conference with a 14-19 theme, in Sheffield, not Bristol.
2 days of talk about 'Transitions, Technology and Learning' future technology, visionary ideas, concepts and creativity.
Then it’s back to reality, to the everyday practicalities of production and the appeasal of the great god of fiscality.
Shame you can’t invoice for inspiration.
futurelab14_19 English pride, English culture
Visiting a whiskey distillery as part of a Scottish stag do, I was acutely aware of my English accent and my visitor status in a land that possessed a noticeable air of national pride.
To be proud of your country and your culture isn't something we English are comfortable with these days. We're ashamed of hooliganism and embarrassed about morris dancing. Centuries of colonial tyranny probably don't help either.
morrisdancing.org Virtual Learning is Doomed?
At the Virtual Learning? conference in Bristol.
My session was part of 'Play & Experimentation', where I stayed for the duration. A pertinent inclusion of a question mark after Virtual Learning, considering the mixed points of view, mostly not playful.
